It’s Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
Cervical screening is available to anyone with a cervix between the ages of 25 to 64 in the UK. The cervical screening test can identify people with HPV infection, that infection can turn cells in your cervix cancerous. It allows the infection to be treated before there is a cancer to begin with. Cervical screening saves at least 2,000 lives each year in the UK. January is cervical cancer Awareness month which is why Sunderland GP Alliance want to share this information with you. Some of the Practice Nurses across Sunderland have created the following Cervical Screening awareness video. The video aims to explain the importance of attending for your cervical screening, what the test is looking for, and what you can expect during your appointment.
