How does walking help us sleep?
Exposure to natural light in the morning helps regulate our circadian rhythms (body clock). Light affects the production of the sleep promoting hormone melatonin (sleep foundation). A bright blast of light alerts the brain, sends cortisol through the body waking us up (streets book). So a good dose of bright light can make it easier to fall asleep at night.
A general guide is for 15-30 minutes of morning light to help sleep (betterup.com)
Suggestion
Walking at sunrise – Go out for a walk at sunrise. Watch the sun peaking over the horizon. Enjoy the solitude before the start of the busy day. Began with one or two per week and slowly built walking at sunrise into a habit.
