A letter for … when things feel hard

This is the second of six letters in our A Letter for… series. A series of letters written by several service users who wanted to share with you what helps them when they are struggling in the hope that it will help you too.

#2

How are you today?

I know things can be hard.

If you’re feeling low, you could listen to your favourite music. Distraction can be a great help in the moment, so put your headphones in and switch off from the world for a little while. Reading can be another great distraction. I personally love doing arts and crafts to keep me busy. You could also watch a TV program or video that makes you laugh. This can be really good for making you feel more positive as laughter is the best medicine.

Trying to look after yourself when you’re not feeling your best can be a lot, so take things one step at a time. You can start doing this by having a nice long soak in the bath or a refreshing shower. My son loves singing in the shower haha. You could try putting on your favourite clothes, so you feel good about yourself and comfortable.

If you can try connect with friends or family,

All the best, take care.
