A letter for… when you are feeling sad, lonely or both
This is the first of six letters in our A Letter for… series. A series of letters written by several service users who wanted to share with you what helps them when they are struggling in the hope that it will help you too.

I’m writing this letter to you, whether you’re feeling sad, lonely or both. I would like to cheer you up if I can.
For myself, when I have those down days, I normally get myself off the settee/sofa, put my favourite songs on and have a dance. You can’t beat a good old boogie. It makes you feel good about yourself straight away. Look at yourself in the mirror and smile while you’re dancing. You will feel so free.
Another thing is animals and wildlife are so therapeutic to watch. Especially the birds singing outside. If you’re unable to go into the garden, maybe you’re like myself and don’t have access, just open the window, shut your eyes and listen to nature.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re doing great.
